This course will introduce the core subject areas of Medical Physics, in particular the physics of physiology and of radiology. The mechanics of body systems and the theory, medical applications and safety issues relating to the production, use, detection and measurements of electromagnetic radiation (both ionizing and non-ionizing) will be included. It will also cover Medical imaging (Ultrasound, CT and MRI) and will provide the student with an understanding of the physics underlying neurological, audiological, respiratory and vascular function and measurements [3 credits]
