An introduction to the laws of classical thermodynamics and their applications. Descriptions of the states of thermodynamic systems primarily at or near equilibrium that use measurable macroscopic properties, but also including discussion of some far-from-equilibrium stationary states, will be developed. The physics will be used to model exchanges of matter and energy for both reversible and irreversible processes in a variety of physical systems [3 credits]
