This course will introduce the psychology of addictive disorders, including their history, prevalence and incidence, and basic drug actions. It will also survey research on biological, psychological, and social factors that contribute to the development and maintenance of addictive disorders. Students may not hold credit for both PSYC 4492 and PSYC 4540 when titled "Introduction to the Psychology of Addiction." [3 credits]
