An introduction to the ancient books known to the Jews as the Bible or Tanakh (Torah, Nevi'im and Ketuvim) and to Christians as the Old Testament. The course will explore traditional and modern ways of studying these texts, including midrashic and literary approaches. A previous introductory course in Judaism is recommended but not required. Students may not hold credit for both RLGN 2160 and RLGN 2161 [3 credits]
