How does an ancient tradition work in today's world? Where is the energy of creativity, the energy of conflict, in contemporary Judaism? What approaches are scholars using as they try to understand current issues in Jewish life and thought? This course will respond to these questions in light of recent and current developments in various streams of Judaism, especially in the United States and Israel, centres of large Jewish populations. A previous introductory course in Judaism is recommended but not required [3 credits]
