This course builds on elements learned in STDO 2230 Introduction to Ceramics. Students will be taught procedures for further manipulation of clay using various handbuilding techniques, including slab building, coiling, and modelling. Slip and glaze technology will be introduced. Historical and contemporary examples of handbuilt ceramics will be studied to build awareness of the discipline and help inform students’ projects [3 credits]
