Students will explore both form and functional typography in studio practice. Consideration of how shifts in the appearance of language can change the way it signifies. A review of how typography has developed historically and the context that it exists in today, where the interrelated systems of reading, technology, culture and language meet, asking us to understand typography as a relational practice. This course is a prerequisite for students wishing to pursue higher level course work in graphic design [3 credits]
