In this first field experience, students will have the opportunity to assume responsibility for social work engagement, assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and integrating theory. Field placement requires the student to be engaged in direct practice activity, training opportunities and evaluation of performance. Students will begin to demonstrate the professional capacity to integrate social work values, knowledge, and skills at the level of a beginning professional practitioner. Students are expected to develop competencies in: professionalism and ethical standards, assessment and intervention skills in practice, reflective capacity and critical analysis, fostering and promoting human rights and social justice, and integration of policy and practice [6 credits]
