Surveys insects and their close relatives based on morphology and taxonomy. Focuses on insect natural history, comparative anatomy and classification. Representative types examined in the laboratory provide an understanding of current trends in insect taxonomy and phylogeny. Weekly hours: 3 Lecture hours and 4 Practicum/Lab hoursPrerequisite(s): BIOL 120 and 121 and 3 additional credit units of senior BIOL courses; or permission of the instructor. Note: Students are required to make a collection of insects and may wish to begin the collection over the summer prior to the course. In that case, contact the instructor for details.
