This course will teach students how to develop a feasible research project proposal in sufficient detail relevant to their field of study, acquire practical skills in data management, and enhance their ability to communicate complex scientific information to diverse audiences. Skills to critically evaluate scientific literature and effectively incorporate this analysis into their own research through writing and presentation will also be developed. Prerequisite(s): Enrollment in a research-based graduate program (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) with a focus in microbiology, immunology, or biochemistry. Restriction(s): Enrollment in a research-based graduate program (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) within the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Immunology, unless otherwise approved by the instructor. Note: Students may have credit for only one of the following courses: BMIS 800, FDSC 808, VTMC 830, or VBMS 879. These courses have overlapping content.
