This course offers introductory (elementary) level Chinese language instruction. This includes: Language Development (greetings, family, dates / times/ money, comparison, directions, celebration and situations); Pronunciations; Basic grammatical points and sentence structures; Reading and Writing (simple sentences from the text); the Evolution of Chinese Characters and cultural traditions (holidays/festivals, beliefs, family relationships, Chinese mannerisms, foods, and Chinese calligraphy). Weekly hours: 3 Lecture hoursNote: Students who are fluent in Chinese may not take this course for credit. Students with credit for CHIN 111 may not take CHIN 114 for credit.
