This course emphasizes the application of the scientific process as it applies to basic science and clinical research, within the context of the Canadian health care system. Students will be exposed to basic principles of experimental design, principles of critical appraisal and evidence-based medicine, and the basic structure of the Canadian health care system, including regulations governing drug discovery and evaluation. Weekly hours: 3 Lecture hoursPrerequisite(s): BMSC 208.3. Note: It is recommended that students complete PHPY 304.3 prior to taking this course. Students with credit for PHPY 402 may not receive credit for this course. Students may use only one of CPPS 337 or CPPS 417 to fulfill degree requirements for a single program.
