This course provides an introduction to the terms, concepts and methodologies used in conducting dental research. The course emphasizes the information and tools required for a student to initiate a novel research project under the guidance and supervision of a faculty mentor. Research ethics is also addressed to ensure that student research conforms to the highest ethical standards in the use of human subjects, animals and biohazardous materials. Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of Year 1 of the D.M.D. program. Entry to the D.M.D. program requires 3-years of undergraduate education. Prior to entry to the B.Sc. (Dent.) program, each selected student will have completed a minimum of 4 years of university level education.
