Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT), with low power laser or LED, is no longer a promising therapy, but it has become one important advance in the medical and dental care. The benefits associated to PBMT include its analgesic, inflammation-modulating, and repairing effects. In addition, when a specific light wavelength is associated with a photosensitizer and oxygen, the so-called antimicrobial photodynamic therapy; it may present antimicrobial effect, being indicated to treat infected oral facial lesions. Prerequisite(s): Must have successfully completed Year 1 of the D.M.D. Program.
