This course introduces students to strategies for writing original fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction. The course will include both lectures and writing workshops in which students critique original writing by class members. Visiting authors may be invited into the classroom, and students will be encouraged to attend literary events in the community. By the end of the course, students will have a portfolio of polished writing in three genres. Weekly hours: 1.5 Lecture hours and 1.5 Seminar/Discussion hoursNote: Only 6 credit units of ENG 110, 111, 112, 113, and 114 may be taken for credit. ENG 120 may be used to fulfill 3 credit units of first-year English or Humanities requirements, and may also be taken as an elective in addition to 6 credit units of other first-year English classes. Eligible to be used toward the College of Arts & Science English Language Writing Requirement.
