This course develops concepts and skills that are foundational for the solution of problems in civil, geological, and environmental engineering (CGEE). Topics include: center of gravity and centroids, moments of inertia, drawing and sketching of discipline-specific drawings, application of linear algebra to CGEE problems, and equilibrium analysis of CGEE systems. Emphasis is placed on constructing free body diagrams of engineering systems, and on visualizing and solving problems related to these systems.
