Provides the student with a basic understanding of mining engineering and the mining industry. The mining component of the course will introduce the drill and blast cycle, mining methods, and the economic evaluation of mineral properties. The mineral process-engineering component will introduce mineral separation processes including gravity, electrostatic and flotation separation. Prerequisite(s): GEOL 102.1 and (GE 213.3 or CE 213.3) or GEOL 300.3.
