Sequence stratigraphy is a new approach to understanding the stratigraphic record. It helps to integrate different datasets, including sedimentology, paleontology and the various fields involved in petroleum geology. It is particularly valuable as a tool in oil and gas exploration and production. Weekly hours: 3 Lecture hours and 3 Practicum/Lab hoursPrerequisite(s) or Corequisite(s): GEOL 343. Note: GEOL 846 and GEOL 448 possess similar content. Students will not receive credit for both courses.
