Introduces articulatory, acoustic, and auditory phonetics, the structure and functioning of the vocal tract, the major classes of speech sounds and the IPA systems of phonetic notation. Recognition, production, and perception of speech sounds and the preliminaries of phonological analysis will be emphasized.
