This course provides an overview of the field of first language acquisition. It examines issues of language development from the child's birth to high school graduation. Topics covered in this course include linguistic development in infancy, acquisition of linguistic ability in phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and speaking skills. Furthermore, it examines underlying factors that may lead to atypical language development.
