Introduces the student to the subject of Computational Fluid Dynamics, as well as numerical methods for predicting heat transfer. The course focuses on incompressible flow of a viscous fluid, including both diffusive and convective transport. Pressure solvers and turbulence models are also described. A comprehensive commercial CFD package is introduced to the students, as an example of the software used by engineers to perform numerical simulation of heat and fluid flow. Prerequisite(s): ME 321.3 and ME 335.3.
