Introduces students to aspects of physics which are of particular relevance for the health and life sciences. This course can be used as the second part of an introduction to physics. Topics include fluid mechanics, oscillations and waves, thermal physics, optics, quantum physics, and nuclear physics. Emphasis is placed on bio-medical applications of physics. Weekly hours: 3 Lecture hours and 1.5 Practicum/Lab hours and 1 Tutorial hoursPrerequisite(s): PHYS 115.3 or PHYS 156.3. Note: Students with credit for PHYS 111 or 121 may not take this course for credit. Students may only obtain credit for one of PHYS 117 or PHYS 125.
