This course surveys advanced topics from diverse areas of criminal justice psychology (e.g., children and the justice system, forensic mental health, correctional psychology, psychopathy, police psychology, human rights and social justice). We will explore how these topics are presented in the media, review empirical research, and examine case studies and systemic issues. Contemporary issues and controversies will be identified and discussed. Weekly hours: 3 Seminar/Discussion hoursPrerequisite(s): PSY 235.3; and an additional 12 credit units PSY courses at Note: Students with credit for PSY 498.3 Current Issues and Controversies in Criminal Justice Psychology cannot take this course for credit.
