This course is for students who have completed PUBH 847 Studies in Addictions and are seeking advanced engagement with the concept of harm reduction. The course delves into the principles and pragmatics of harm reduction as it pertains to substance use from a public health perspective. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the role of policy in harm reduction support, service delivery, and community innovation across the continuum of care. Students will be guided on how to advocate for evidence-based policies that support harm reducing health strategies to empower them to engage in this form of policy and advocacy work in their future careers. By the end of this course, students will have a robust understanding of harm reduction, its application, and the role of policy in this field.
