This third-year course uses a case-based approach to small animal orthopedics. Students will practice lameness localization, identify skeletal abnormalities in dogs and cats, and discuss fracture management principles. Learning is enhanced through in-hospital cases, video demonstrations and medical imaging. Laboratory sessions offer hands-on practice in fracture repair techniques, stifle arthrotomy and stabilization for cruciate deficiency. Restriction(s): Successful completion of Year 2 of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program. Note: This course will be an elective in Year 3.
