This course equips veterinary students with essential skills and knowledge about diagnosing, managing, treating, and preventing common behaviour problems in dogs and cats. Starting with fundamental learning theory and principles of behaviour modification, the course delves into specific conditions like aggression, anxiety disorders, and repetitive behaviour disorders, as well as clinical psychopharmacology. This course aims to foster a low-stress and respectful approach to animal care and behaviour, understanding the range of each animal and its unique needs including some live-animal activities. Restriction(s): Successful completion of Year 2 of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program. Note: This course will be an elective in Year 3.
