This course is an exploration into the creative process and use of imagination as they arise in the context of mathematical problem solving, puzzles, and recreational mathematics. The topics for the course may include a study of games, puzzles and problems that require a pre-Calculus background. One of the course’s main goals is to hone each participant’s creativity and mathematical problem-solving skills while guiding them towards the ‘Aha!’ experience which accompanies independent discovery. Not intended for students in Mathematics Specialist or Major programs.
